How to Make a Pot Roast

Stuff you’re going to need to make pot roast
1. The right amount of meat, we used 2 pounds of chuck for 2.5 people and it was plenty
2. 6 long carrots peeled and cut into about 2 inch portions
3. 5 potatoes chunked into cubes (doesn’t have to be exactly cubed…you are eating them after all)
4. 2 cloves of minced garlic (you can buy it preminced…or just do it yourself
5. Salt, pepper, paprika (i used hot paprika)
6. 2 cups of Beef broth
7. About 8 hours

This is what our meat looked like for the pot roast before we opened it. It’s a chuck (if you have never had it before…call it a Charles)
The Meat! We had a two pound chuck, safely served 2.5 people. Seasoned with a teaspoon of salt, 2 teaspoons of pepper, and about the same with hot paprika
Used 2 tablespoons of canola oil in the pan to brown both sides.
Cut up 5 or 6 long carrots to about 2 inch pieces, added about 4 peeled Yukon potatoes in chunks too. 2 minced cloves of garlic was added (to deter vampires) Put the meat on top. Added 2 cups of beef broth and a splash of red wine (wine isn’t necessary) If you can’t tell, we added this to a crock pot…

Here’s a better shot of the bed of tastiness
Put it on low for about 6 hours then added 2 tablespoons of cornstarch and 2 tablespoons of cold water…this will thicken up the gravy. Let this cook for one more hour
Here it is plated. Creamed corn isn’t my first choice, but it was pretty good.

    1. Thank you. I think my wife found this at a thrift store when were living in Virginia. It fits in more now that we’re in Wisconsin
